Adult Day Program

The Views is pleased to offer an Adult Day Program located in the former hospital Lobby. There is room for eight participants each day, Monday to Friday.  If you are a caregiver, you might be interested in the Adult Day program for your loved one.

Benefits

Oftentimes it is the caregivers who are the true benefactors of the Day Program, so they can get rest or attend to other priorities. The Day Program is intended to support caregivers in caring for a frail senior who may have mobility challenges or be experiencing early symptoms of memory loss and require some supervision and assistance during the day. The caregiver will gain peace-of-mind knowing their loved one is safe and getting the support they need while attending the Day Program.

Participation in the Day Program may allow your loved one to stay at home longer and not require admission to a long-term care home. Involvement in social opportunities in a safe environment may also keep your loved one more independent.

What’s included

  • Meal and snacks
  • Supervision
  • Social opportunities
  • Meaningful activities

Cost

The cost is $6.00 per day.

How to access the program

Eligibility and enrollment is arranged through arranged through case managers from Island Health’s Home and Community Care program.

Transportation is available through arrangements with HandiDart (phone 250-339-5426) or caregivers can drop off your loved one at the Program.

Give it time

It can take time to settle into the program, particularly if your loved one is uncomfortable in a group setting. However, try not to give up too soon, as most who try the program get more and more comfortable and start to thrive.
