Redefining Seniors’ Care
We are a faith-based non-profit health care organization established by Providence Health Care in 2017 to redefine our collective expectation of seniors’ care in British Columbia.
Providence Living was formed from a deep desire to completely rethink and reimagine the experience of seniors and others in need of care, replacing care homes with genuine communities.
Providence Living respectfully acknowledges that we provide services on the unceded traditional lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and K’omoks nations.
ANSWERING THE CALL
Our History
More than a century ago there was a profound need for health care in Western Canada. A few answered the call, including six orders of Catholic Sisters from other parts of Canada.
Upon arriving here, they found that the need was greatest among the marginalized — racialized communities, people in poverty, people with disabilities and those unable to care for themselves. The Sisters knew that if they didn’t care for those most in need, no one would.
Today, our growing population of seniors requires our attention. While many seniors are independent and healthy, many others are in need of support. That’s why Providence Health Care, the organization founded by some of these remarkable pioneering Sisters, identified the need to create a new organization that focused solely on seniors’ care.
And, thus, Providence Living was born. Our modern-day mission is to redefine seniors care in BC.
